Components

This part of the training familiarizes you with the IPT Oral Test materials. Pictures of all the test materials are included in the training, but to get the most out of this training, it would be helpful if you could get one copy of each IPT Oral Test component your school has purchased. These items are for reference only and can be returned to the testing office when you complete your training. Having access to the actual materials will make the training more concrete and will help you feel confident when you administer the test for the first time. If it is not possible for you to use the actual test materials during this session, please reserve some extra time before your first test administration session to familiarize yourself with them and practice administering the test.

The IPT I–Oral English Test and the IPT II–Oral English Test have two alternate, parallel forms—Forms G and H for IPT I, and Forms E and F for IPT II. The skills assessed by one form are the same as those assessed by its alternate, even though the test items are different. It is recommended that you use alternate forms between testings. For example, IPT I–Oral English, Form G could be used for initial placement and IPT I–Oral English, Form H for a progress monitoring assessment later in the school year. The administration and scoring of the test forms is exactly the same. The IPT I–Oral Spanish Test and IPT II–Oral Spanish Test each have only one form.

Each of the IPT Oral Test Sets consists of the following components:

Test Booklet
The IPT-Oral test booklet contains the examiner script, the expected responses, and check boxes for indicating whether each student response was correct or incorrect. You will use one test booklet per student tested. The completed test booklet acts as the student’s test record.

 

Test Pictures 
The Test Pictures include stimulus visuals needed to administer some of the test questions. The back cover forms a stand-up easel for displaying the pictures.

Examiner’s Manual 
Contains directions on how to administer the test and interpret the results.

Includes a summary of the research underlying the test, validity and reliability data, and information about norming studies.
